Civic HeART is a community project run by the Greater Taree City Council (now MidCoast Council). The project’s centrepiece? The Victoria Street makeover, featuring sculptures, garden beds and new seating. Particularly notable are four tallowwood goannas, carved by acclaimed indigenous artist Russell Saunders.
Taree’s 50-strong Lions Club is based at the Waterfront room on Manning Street. Their objective? To work out what the Taree community needs and then make it happen.
